Keeping your domain, hosting and email with one Tanzanian provider makes life simpler: one invoice in shillings, one support team, and no confusion about who manages what. This guide shows how to transfer your domain to Oneway Africa Technologies.

Before you transfer

• The domain must usually be more than 60 days old and not transferred in the last 60 days (for .com, .net, .org and most international domains).
• The domain should not be close to expiry – renew first if it expires within a few days.
• Make sure the administrative email on the domain is one you can access.

Step 1: Unlock the domain

Log in to your current registrar and turn off the "registrar lock" or "transfer lock".

Step 2: Get the authorisation (EPP) code

Request the transfer authorisation code, also called the EPP or auth code, from your current registrar. It is like a password for moving the domain.

Step 3: Start the transfer with us

Go to our domain transfer page, enter your domain and the EPP code, and complete the order. Pay with M-PESA, Mixx by YAS, Airtel Money or card.

Step 4: Approve the transfer

You may receive an email asking you to approve the transfer. Approve it to speed things up. International domain transfers usually complete within 5–7 days.

Step 5: Check your DNS

A transfer does not usually change where your website points. After it completes, confirm your website and email still work, then update nameservers if you are also moving hosting. See our DNS guide.

Transferring a .tz or .co.tz domain

Tanzanian domains (.tz, .co.tz, .or.tz, .ac.tz, .sc.tz) follow the .tz registry's own process, which differs from international domains. Contact our team and we will guide you through the exact steps for your domain.

Does a transfer cause downtime?

No. If you leave the DNS settings unchanged, your website and email keep working throughout the transfer.
